After a family loss, Lisa Montgomery has to move across the country to continue her junior year at a new high school, where she notices the cliquish environment. She’s immediately branded as the nerdy new girl, but she catches the eye of one of the most popular guys in school, the captain of the basketball team.

Jake Austin is attracted to the new girl, but he’s hesitant to risk his social standing to befriend a nerd … until he discovers she’s his next-door neighbor. Jake and Lisa start to form a friendship, but it’s one that Jake keeps a secret.
